Bike Bags

For transporting your bike, particularly if flying abroad, a well designed bike bag is a must have.

These large padded bags enable you to separate your wheels and frame so that your bike can be carried manageably and remain well protected. Most airlines insist your bike is in a proper bag or box if you wish to take it on board.

Look for bags with side pockets for wheels and smaller storage for easily lost items such as pedals and skewers. Plenty of padding and durable outer construction is essential as baggage handlers can be tough on bikes. Make sure that even when using a bag there is plenty of extra padding and protective wrap on your bike and that you remove vulnerable components such as the rear mech and protect the bar and stem.

Bike boxes are a heavier duty way of giving your bike maximum protection but with many airlines bringing in weight limits there is a toss up between bike protection and carrying additional weight.
