Tag-a-longs & Child Trailers
When your family starts to grow there is no need to leave the kids at home when you go out for a bike ride. Trailers and tag-a-longs are a great way for the whole family to enjoy cycling together until the point when your child is ready for their own bike.

Child trailers are towed behind your bike and allow one or two children to sit in comfort whilst you do the pedalling. Trailers have sunshades, fly nets, and a proper harness and rain protection so you know they are safe and protected from the elements. There is also plenty of room to take the basic essentials you need for a family day out. Depending on your needs and budget some trailers are designed with suspension and rugged wheels making them perfect for off-road cycling. Some trailers can be converted into a stroller buggy. Children are ready for trailers from around the age of 1, as they need to be able to sit up unaided and be big enough to fill the seat space. Most manufacturers will have their own specific guidelines.

As your child grows the next step is the tag-a-long bike. These attach onto the seat post behind you and allow children the freedom to sit on their own bike whilst still being safely attached to you. Riding together like this helps a child develop balance and road awareness, as well as teaching riding techniques such as starting, stopping and gear selection. As you do the bulk of the work you can travel further and faster together than you would if your child pedalled on a kids bike. They will 'keep up' with your pace contributing as much or as little as they want to. Tag-a-longs and trailer bikes are suitable for kids 3 and up.
