Cycle theft is a real issue. In 2005/2006 439,000 bicycles were stolen in the UK *, and as cycling becomes more popular these numbers are predicted to keep rising. Fortunately you can easily protect yourself and your investment with Evans Cycles Insurance – a policy created exclusively for our customers.
There are two sides to the policy:
- Bicycle insurance – this provides cover against theft, loss or accidental damage to your bike.
- Liability insurance – this provides optional cover so that you are protected against third party claims should you cause injury or accident whilst using your bike.

Bicycle insurance
Even if you only use your bike at the weekends, it’s worth getting a cycle insurance quote from a specialist policy like Evans Cycles Insurance. Many home contents policies don’t cover cycles if they are over a certain value, if they are taken away from the home, if you transport them on a car rack or you use them for business or racing. They could also carry an excess which may make claiming uneconomical. Evans Cycles Insurance gives you total flexibility to create your own individual policy, so you are not stuck with cover you don’t want or will never need.
Evans Cycles Insurance is suitable for a wide variety of cyclists thanks to the options that are available. If you take your bicycle abroad – no problem, you can choose to have EU or worldwide cover. If you race your bicycle – no problem, there’s our Active option, which covers you whilst racing or competing in cycling events.
Liability insurance
It’s becoming increasingly more important that cyclists take out liability cover in a similar way that motorists have to have third party cover. Third party or public liability insurance provides financial protection against third party claims should you cause injury or damage to another person or their property whilst using your bike. If you ride your bike on the road, where the potential to cause or be involved in an accident is greater, you should seriously consider adding the public liability option to your Evans Cycles Insurance policy.
Another benefit of taking the public liability is that you automatically receive personal accident cover. This means that if you were injured whilst using your bike, you would receive an amount of money as compensation.
Please note that the public liability and personal accident cover is not available for children under the age of 16.
