An important part of the Evans Cycles Insurance is that you use a lock suitable for the value of your bike. Clearly it doesn’t make sense to secure a £1500 bicycle with a £5 lock – we’d advise you look at spending roughly 10% of the value of your bicycle on a lock and always use a lock from our approved lock list. This is a list of locks that we know offer exceptional security and it’s vital to your cover that you use a lock from this list. They range in price and they are readily available so there really is no reason not to buy one.

For added security we’d advise using 2 locks - preferably one chain lock and one D lock, as it’s unlikely that a thief will have the tools to break both types of lock.
