People take part in our Ride It! events for a number of reasons. Some to socialise with other riders, some to explore new areas and some as part of their training.
No matter what reason brings folk to a Ride it! event one of the most popular features of the series is the timed rides. And up until now Dean and the Ride It! team have been using good old watch, pen, paper and clipboard (along with a bit of Excel magic) to produce the rider results.
But with the increase in participants the old fashion techniques were becoming a lot of work! (Processing 500 odd riders at a start can be a fair amount of work).
Digital revolution
So for 2010 we've invested in a brand new electronic chip based timing system. At registration every rider gets a small electronic chip which attaches to your ankle. To start riders simply roll over a start mat and then roll over another mat when returning. Then through the power of timing system magic your ride time is calculated ready for the Ride It! team to post on the blog.
Use of the timing system is included in the entry price, there's nothing extra to pay on top.
