Redbridge Cycle Centre

So what do we have, so far, to show for all the money being pumped into the London 2012 Olympics?

How about a £4.5 million state of the art cycle centre!

Redbridge Cycle Centre, which is also known by locals and cyclists as Hog Hill is a purpose built road circuit which has been built to allow cyclists to train and race away from the problems of traffic on the roads. This venue has a total of 7 different circuits to race, train or ride on, with the longest being 2km long and they can be used in either direction allowing many different variations, so there is no need to get bored! There is also a purpose built all weather mountain bike track for the dirt lovers, that can be used in all conditions all year round. The mountain bike track can be used for recreation or for racing and totals 3.23km in length. Inside that 3.23km there are descents, berms and jumps which are even suitable for BMX too.

If that wasn’t enough there are 6 changing rooms and showering facilities inside so after a good hard ride on the circuit you can shower and change. Then after that chill out in the café or sit out side and marvel at the lovely view of the London skyline.

Now this venue can be booked as part of a club, school or association to either race, train or use for recreational riding. It also has many regular races and training sessions so check the diary on the web site first.

The venue can also be used at any time when there is no training or racing on allowing users to rock up and ride whenever they like on super smooth surfaces with no traffic to worry about.

There are also three public rooms available for hire: a Meeting Room (max capacity 16), Fitness Room, and Clubroom (seated capacity 60). The Fitness Room comes with sprung flooring and the fantastic Clubroom showcases that marvellous view from the Thames Gateway all the way to the City of London skyline. All public rooms are available for hire by the local community or for corporate events.

There are also full disabled facilities including Disabled parking and disabled toilets, showers and changing facilities.
Not forgetting there is bike parking outside the centre enabling cycles to be locked securely and there is even a free gravel car park that has even been designed to prevent excessive rain water run-off associated with tarmac.
What if you haven’t got a bike to ride? Well they even have a fleet of Road bikes, Mountain Bikes and BMX bikes which can be hired and included in the price is a helmet and use of the circuit!

All that is left now is to get on down to The Redbridge Cycle Centre and get on your bike.
