bought this bike as a long term investment with commuting and occational trips up down and around the country in mind - for that purpose i'm very happy.

all of the BAT, coast 2 coast, carbon firbre forks blah blah do their job very well to make life comfortable but without taking the 'feel' away - Frame seems solid and made to last - you get what you pay for with the group sets, but one negative i didn't expect the plastic gear changers to be so mushy.

all in all frame excellent, happy to upgrade the surrounding parts in time.

This particular Via Nirone model is a comfy ride.... lots of adjustment enabling you to find the ideal riding position. The bike is pretty light but still feels solid and well built, and it stunning looks give the appearance of a higher value set of wheels. The handling and roadholding give the rider confidence and the Bianchi is agile on the climb and in group rides. One small criticism is that the Campag gearing can be a bit noisy and unprecise at times and you have to be extremely positive with the selectors. All in all a good value bike with an excellent frame.... highly recommended but if you've got a little extra cash it may well be worth spending it on an upgraded groupset.

I think the equipment on this bike is probably the best value for money at the moment.
I certainly dont regret buying one,the ride is good and the finnish is great.

Disappointing front shifter performance

No, I do not recommend this product.

Pros: Comfortable, Looks great

Cons: Poor quality, bad groupset

I bought this bike recently and have clocked just over 1000 miles on it. Disappointingly the bike arrived poorly set up, and 10 miles into my first ride I was unable to chain between the front rings. I took it to a mechanic as there was no Evans nearby who fixed it only for the front derailleur to completely lock up during a TT, leaving me stuck in the big ring. Some new cables and more mechanic work have sorted out most of the issues but the indexing is still terrible, trimming gears on the front is a fine art, changing between rings is hard work that often unships the chain.
That said, the rest of the bike seems to do everything it should. The compact chainset makes even the steepest hills good fun and the ride has been comfortable on century rides. It's a shame the near-bottom-of-the-line Campag system leaves so much to be desired when changing between rings at the front. As Campag change from 10 speed to 11 halfway through their range, the opportunity to upgrade specific parts is limited and I would definitely recommend a Shimano group over a cheap Campy one.
As you might expect an upgrade to the tyres will yield a massive performance boost, as with any bike at this price range. The brake blocks are pretty lacklustre in poor weather, partly due to the Italian heritage but are easily changed to something more suitable for British riding.
In conclusion, a great bike that looks much more expensive than it is but with a disappointing groupset that can’t seem to cope with the compact set up. I was loathed to have to take a new bike to a mechanic to be set up after about 30 miles as I was under the impression that Evans set up bikes before they sent them out. I wouldn’t buy from an online store again when buying a complete bike.
