BMC Trailfox TF02 SLX/XT 2012 Mountain Bike

The BMC Trailfox TF02 SLX/XT 2012 Mountain Bike rider probes the limits and wants borderline experiences, whether of an inner nature or on their bike. Light enough to conquer every mountain, but still with enough travel to handle every descent in safety, whether for challenging descents technical trails or long, steep ascents, the TF02 feels at home everywhere and never lets you down. With 150mm of travel, it can be relied upon wherever it goes.

Aluminium is the chosen material here, so that it can be made available to a wider audience; it nevertheless also shares the positive descent and suspension properties of its big brother, the TF01.

BMC Trailfox TF02 SLX/XT 2012 Mountain Bike 5 5 1 1

My best purchase ever! I’ve done 160+ miles on this in 2 weeks and it’s stood up to some serious punishment. I’ve taken it around the peaks (Ladybower, Cutgate, Mam Tor) and to Cannock (Monkey Trail) several times now and it’s going strong. I had a chain link snap, bent my rear derailleur, bent my rear brake disc – all of which I caused and have fixed myself. I’m surprised that these are the only things that have gone on it considering how much it’s been through. For the descents I’ve found it faultless. I moved the handlebar controls inwards for 1 finger braking and the fit is excellent. The Elixir 7 brakes that come with the bike have performed brilliantly, even if a little squeaky at times – but then I’ve never had brakes that are silent. I bought the “Petrol” colour (which is actually an army green) and it looks superb. I’ve had a couple of people simply come and gawp at it when I’ve been on the trails, asking me about how much it was and the spec of it. In summary, it looks like a tank and actually performs like one – it won’t take you up the hills fast, but it’ll fly down the descents and take all sorts of punishment. August 20, 2012
