The Crud Roadracer Mudguard Pair. After a decade in the mountain bike market Mr Crud has now set his mind to work on the road bike market. The Road Racer is the latest ultra-light mudguard for road bikes.

Innovative fitting system allows the Road Racer to be fitted on bikes with exceptionally close clearance where traditional mudguards simply won't go. Incredibly flexible plastic blade and breakaway fittings prevent a wheel locking should a foreign object get caught between the mudguard and the wheel or frame. In-built and replaceable pile brushes allow the guard to 'hover' close to the tyre without rubbing, and negate the need for tough, heavy fittings and keeps the mudguard guard central over the wheel. Minimalist design looks good on even the most high end of rigs.

good but flimsy

Well, with the summer coming to an end and more and more days being wet I bought myself these mudguards to go onto my Specialized Langster bike. They look great in shiny black and look factory fitted.

But they are flimsy and don't screw the 'thumb nuts' too hard or the plastic screws will snap. Getting them on was ok, the front was a doddle but the rear was a little bit more tricky. Anyway they are on and do the job.

I'm extra careful now when I handle the bike, I just feel that eventually something will snap off.

These mudguards are brilliant, really easy to fit but their website has a great video to ensure good results. The materials are cheap, everything is plastic and held on with rubber bands but this does keep the weight down and really it's the awesome design your paying for.

Good, but could be better!

Fast and light; yes.

Stays together and keeps you dry.... sort of.

Not rocket-science to install and setup. A bit fickle at first, but once everything's in place, they do work well. There are two extra clippy bits on each end of the mudguard that come with their own nut & bolt to screw on what can be described as mud-guard-extensions - I've since lost one on each guard from regular commuting (2months). Not the greatest design; Crud will send you new bits for the price of a stamp (per piece required), but a bit annoying that the extensions fell off in the first place. I'll order the new bits and super-glue them on so they're not coming off! Might be worth doing on the bits that haven't fallen off yet too. Overall, am happy with the guards. Arguably best looking / reasonably well working mudguards for road bikes around.

not for hybrids!!

Pros: Lightweight, Looks great

I bought these for my hybrid which has V brakes and 700 x 28 tyres. They dont fit. These mudgaurds need dual pivot brakes or similar because of their attachment system. They also rub on anything wider than a 25 tyre. Fortunately I was able to fit them to my road bike, and on this they are great. Be warned!!
