A unique GPS-enhanced cycle computer that provides extensive and accurate data to make this an invaluable training partner. Smaller unit size reduces weight (it is half the weight of the Edge 705) and pares down the navigation tools to focus on GPS assisted training data. Ability to follow uploaded courses. Completely wireless operation, making installation easy. Uses a high-sensitivity SiRF GPS receiver to track your movements. The large screen can be backlit at night for easy viewing, and customised to show the data you want. Waterproof to IPX7 standard (up to 1 metre for 30 minutes) Uses a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery, providing up to 15 hours operation. Compatible with Garmin’s heart rate monitor and Cadence sensors using robust ANT Plus wireless technology, along with third party power meters.

wildly inaccurate when paired with GSC-10 cadence The EDGE 500 on it's own is OK for a cycle computer that enables you to track accurately where you have been on a computer map afterwards, and load courses where it tells you if you are off course. However beware: any accuracy of speed and distance disappears when you pair with a GSC -10 cadence sensor. I have a regular course that is 14 .5 miles long, which now gets recorded as anywhere between 10 miles and 23 miles, with a maximum speed on one occasion of 118 mph! February 5, 2013

great product! easily customized to your needs Great product to use. Heard many good things and finally made the plunge to buy the edge 500 and am very satisfied with it. do consider getting the out front mount with the unit as it keeps your cockput clean and also makes it easier to see the information on the unit.
