Once you get used to the unit it generally functions well, however the software is not particluarly intuitive and the documentation leaves much to be desired but other than that it's nice to have a satnav on the bike, even though it did do a satnav special the other day and try to take me across a bumpy field! Also be aware by buying the map on the SD card it is not used by the Training Centre software which uses the base map and so does not contain details of the minor roads and so if you ride off main roads you only see a route drawn with no roads. There are some published workaround suggestions on the internet.

Lovely item helps me train harder once you have done a route once and saved it.
Loads of information on the screen and very clear! Not sure on the USB connection cover at the back when raining but it has a rating of at least 1 hour in 1m of water or something similar, IP7 i think it is.

Pros: Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great, more than one sport use, easy to use

Being a rower, runner and cyclist it is a great way to track current progress in all of the sports. The Garmin Connect website also allows upload of all activities which allows to keep a record of activities and to compare past runs, rows and cycles.
The Garmin itself is a great accessory for cyclists doing long (and short) distances, informing the user of distance, time, pace, gradient, elevation and more. RECOMMENDATION FOR THE GARMIN 605/705!!!!!!

Great bit of kit

I use online map tools like bikehike to plot routes, download to the 605 and then it works out the turn by turn directions itself. It is a great bit of kit, navigates me round routes I've never ridden before with no probs.
Beeps before turns, so you don't have to look at it the whole time. Battery life is pretty good, even with backlight permanently on about 15%.
Got the 605 because I didn't feel I was that interested in the HR and cadence features. If you want these you need the 705 as you cannot add them later to the 605.
Base map is rubbish, you need the map upgrade.
