I bought this bike in September 2010, and have used it to travel all over Bristol nearly all the time. When properly maintained, it climbs hills quite easily. I installed additional racks and use four panniers, and it handles my grocery shopping well. It is a shame that this model is now discontinued.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight

Just recieved this bike. Easy set up out of the box and actual bike main setup from the warehouse seems excellent.
Really lightweight and handles well, very nice ride and gresat value. Would recommend.
Only niggle was that the refectors and bell were not attached. But a phone call sorted this.

A PROPER MOUNTAIN BIKE with some compromises!

My daughter needed a new bike, Kids are awful they grow and cost money! I have ridden my old Trek 930 singletrack all over the country (on and off road) and love it. I have upgraded most of it so it is really just my old Trek 930 frame and a load of new bits (any way enough drivel). Neadless to say I wanted a proper bike for her not an over weight collection of scaffold bars welded together with a couple of springs stuffed on the front end.

I was looking at the Trek 3500 which is higher spec'ed but is also more expensive along with a few others. This Raleigh has the same frame,apparently, as all the other AT range which is what swayed me.

Yes it is heavier than my TREK and a lot heavier than my Giant road bike BUT it is MUCH MUCH cheaper (don't like kids that much!!). If you want a good looking bike to start commuting (junk the tyres and fit slicks) or a good kids bike you can't go to far wrong.

Yes the saddle is a little hard, the handle bar grips not fantastic but put some bar ends on to give varying hand positions, harden your (wanted to use a rude word here) bottom (or change the saddle) and you have a very usable bike. Will you win any Down hills on it? Only if you ride it off a cliff but it's not that sort of bike. It is a good old fashioned value for money steed.
AND YES I HAVE RIDDEN IT (when she wasn't looking!!)

My daughter's grin said it all at the end of the ride (flies in her teeth and all)

"Simple But Well Built"

I purchased this bike from Evans Cycles June 2009 for daily use and haven't had any issues to date(Dec 09). It arrived quickly, well set-up, with only the peddles to attach and the handlebars to tighten into place(tools provided). The grip shift system is as solid as most others I have seen,looks like they could take some abuse before any damage. The gear shifters have have been smooth with no adjustment needed yet. The breaks work fine and, again, were set up well before shipping. I cycle this mainly mainly on smooth roads, with only the occasional trip on uneven ground, which is where it gets just a little uncomfortable. The relatively thin grips and lack of front suspension can make for sore hands, the odd muscle spasm after a couple hours. The saddle is fairly comfortable for rides of up to an hour, but over this, it can get pretty uncomfortable on anything but smooth road. This is a fairly lightweight bike and when i first cycled it, it did seem a little flimsy, but it wasnt long until i could say i felt safe cycling it. Overall, the AT05 is a simple but well-built bike, great for light daily use and undeniably very good value!
