I'm on my third Chameleon and I can't put my finger on what it is with this bike, but it is simply one of the best frames I have every thrown a leg over. I first got into them in the mid-90's with the original in Kawasaki green; massive square chain stays made it brutal but fast as heck. Development over the years has ironed out the rough edges but it's heart and soul remain intact - this frame is just plain fun! You have so many ways to set it up and as your mad skills develop this frame will grow with you. It clearly isn't for everyone, but if you 'get it' you'll love it. Probably the best single speed trail bike you can get in terms of price, durability and smile on your face.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great, bombproof, bottle opener!

This is without a doubt one of the best bikes I have ever built up. It goes where you point it at top speed. It handles really well and will take whatever you throw at it. It s super stiff which transfers power as soon as you stamp on the pedal. Looks great and feels great. Has a bottle opener on for the post ride cold one!!! Very pleased!

Best Hardtail Frame out there !!

This is now my 3rd Chameleon, first one was back in '97, then '08 but I then purchased a Trek Fuel EX7, which although is a great Full Susser bike, Ive had hardtails all my riding life so Im used to them more which is why I have just decided to go back to the Chameleon. I looked at other frames but the Santa Cruz just kept calling me back. The geometry may seem nothing special but believe me, this frame has got a "Vibe" that you cant explain, its stiff yet supple so power transfer is great but forgiving when the terrain gets tough.
I think that Full Sussers make you lazy with technique, where as with a Hardtail you have to think more about lines and use your body on downhills to soak up the shocks, plus its better when you have to go through those tedious uphill slogs.
The Santa Cruz Chameleon does it all so well, dont hesitate to get one of these if looking for a new frame.

Evans service was spot on, I purchased the frame online on Sunday, they phoned me Monday to say it will be delivered Tuesday, and early afternoon it showed up, so thanks guys at Evans Cycles for top service and delivery.

Exfellent do it all hard tail

Cons: Expensive

I've owned the chameleon frame for 2 years now. After owning a Stumpjumper for a while I decided to switch to a more of a do it all frame - and boy was I amazed.

I can't praise this frame enough, it really puts the power down with its small rear triangle, almost pull wheelies on acceleration. The frame sat a little higher than the Stumpjumper but after a while it felt completely natural.

The great thing about this frame is its so easy to ride, it literally rides on rails with complete control in tight single track, pulling large jumps or climbing - it accels in each.

The best point of this bike is its versatility, run it as a hard core XC frame, dirt jumper or do it all thrasher. And if you get bored of running gears you can easily switch it to a single speed beast - i switched mine to single speed for commuting in London and its the most fun ride to work ive ever had - easily beating the single speed / fixed posers on their track bikes as I smashed over curbs and potholes with ease!!

To summarise a frame that can do it all and will put a smile on your face, buy it for the sheer love of a hard tail mountain bike - you won't find a better one.

Only downside is the cost, but its worth the investment!!
