Yes, I recommend this product.

Pros: Good quality, Lightweight

Cons: requires extra bungee cords

Excellent service by Evans. The solo is sturdy and seems to be well made. It was slightly un nerving the first time i used the solo as the bike moves back and forth whilst accelerating and braking, to combat this i now use 2 bungees to secure the front wheel to the bike and secure the frame to the bumper, this has stopped the movement and the bike seems secure at speeds upto 60 mph. Needs to be used with something to protect the car from the bike pedals, i use the saris o pack that Evans provided free. Small enough to store away easily and very easy and quick to set up.

Bought this as a 'backup' for my main Thule roof-mounted bike carrier (the one with the forks held - the 561 - which is just fantastic).

I was unable to get through the chunnel with a bike on the roof so needed something to put it on the back just for the crossing. At c£30 this was cheaper than the ticket penalty.

I was surprised at how quick it was to fit once adjusted and how it protects the car.

The bike 'dangles' at the back and so needs to be tied to the car - the foam pads are useful to avoid chipping paint. I wouldn't recommend this for a long journey though...

The fitting instructions are vague on the website. I have a Volvo V70 estate and needed to hammer the hooks closed a little since they kept popping out. Once this small adjustment was done fitting was a matter of moments.

For occasional, short-hop use there's a lot to recommend this, especially at the price and compact size. For any distance, however, or if you care about your bike and car finish, I'd be wary of crossing a continent with your bike carried this way.

A deserved 4* though for doing what it claims to do well, and with such easy of fitting.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Pros: Lightweight

Cons: poor design for top tube clamps

I purchased this to carry my mountain bike but I returned it before I even tried attaching it to the car. The brackets that clamp the the top tube would only really accommodate a small round top tube. I Couldn't get a tight grip on mine as I didn't want to damage the Hyd line for the rear brake and there wasn't enough play in the line to put the clamp under it - ultimately i wasnt confident that my bike wasn't going to end up ruining the back of the car banging about on the motorway. Great service returning it to an Evans store.

Pros: Good value, Good quality

Fits very easily and quickly to the car only slight loss of marks is needing bungees or similar to stop the bike from swinging about
