The Shimano XTR Race M985 Hydraulic Disc Brake Lever and Calliper. With 10 percent more power than the previous XTR brake, the sleek new XTR race lever has been ergonomically redesigned for a versatile fit on the handlebars, superior feel at the fingertips and unsurpassed function at the race course. The new forged one-piece calliper delivers a balance of light weight and power that resists performance-sapping heat better than ever before thanks to an industry-first full-ceramic piston and optional Ice Technology radiator brake pads (Resin compound pad with alloy backing plate fitted as standard).
For 2011 Shimano has split the XTR range into two very distinct but still complementary ranges labelled ‘Trail’ and ‘Race’. The best part though is that the XTR trail is the yin to the XTR Race’s yang, and together mountain biking’s first family of components offers a broad matrix of fully interchangeable options to tube your ride.
