Solid, good quality post

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pros: Good quality, Comfortable, Looks great

Cons: installation slightly tricky

Installation, initially was straightforward. The only tricky part, I found, was getting the cable tension set up right.
At first I had too little tension and the handlebar lever had no effect.
So I tightened it up and it seemed to work ok.
However, first time out on the trail with it and after riding sitting for a minute or so, it would suddenly lower itself without warning. Very off-putting!
After going back to the car for some pliers, we managed to slacken the cable a bit more and now it seems to work fine.
So, top tip: ride around on it for a while, and try and bounce up and down on the seat a bit just like you would if you were on the trail before you decide it's all set up!
Since then, had no real problems. Having the 3 height settings is really good. Previously I had a Joplin, and there was always a bit of give in it. The command post, however, feels very rigid. Because of this I'm hoping that it will last a while too.
I'd recommend one of these to any serious trail rider who likes to adjust their seat hight dependant on the trail.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pros: Good quality, reliable

Cons: Expensive

I bought the specialized command post after having had 2 x gravity droppers on different bikes. The Gravity Droppers both had reliability issues and eventually one became so sloppy as to be unusable. The Specialized Post has been on the bike for almost 12 months, 5-6 hours riding per week, never missed a beat and never required any maintenance. I also have a newer Joplin on another bike which already needs maintenance after only 3 months, it looks great but the Specialized Post just gets the job done and on that basis gets the nod from me.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Bought this post a few year ago. from the off i had problems with it and warranty didn't cover it even although it had not been ridden more that 12 hrs and was under 1 year old at the time.

I cant recommend this and i used to sell specialized products so a hard pill for me to swallow but specialized UK really dropped the ball with this model.

Admittedly after i paid to get it fixed (£50) by Specialized UK it has worked fine but i have lost all confidence in it.
the lever is sloppy in retuning to the open position; the spring that performs this job is too weak.

The issues i had were with the seals and the post constantly retuning to max height. although i did not find any slop (side to side movements) as other post have.

Now i would buy the rock shox re verb post now it has been released.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks great, Good quality

Cons: Expensive

It's true it was an expensive purchase, and to be honest it costs a lot for what it does - however, it has been one of the best purchases I've bought for my MTB. My off roading confidence has gone north in a big way and it's a real asset t be able to flip the switch whilst on the move. I'm a big chap, and it manages to take my 16st slender frame without any issues and without a jot of movement in the seatpost. Thoroughly recommended !

have to disagree with the above review based on my experience. as an ex specialized retailer i am regrettably having to be negative about there command post.
the one i bought failed on the second ride and was really stiff to get it down, it kept returning to the highest setting and wouldn't hold air.
after retuning it to the uk distributor i was told it was not under warranty as damage had occurred which they believed was from miss use i.e landing heavy or DH riding. i rode this twice on xc trails and did not jump on or land on it. had to shell out £55 to get it fixed after riding it twice .
I cannot recommend it to anyone. i have also previously returned other command posts that i had sold to customers; so its not an isolated occurrence.
plenty of review on the net with similar problems. get a gravity dropper instead
