The Trek 1.5 Compact is my first road bike – up ‘til now I’ve stuck with hybrids for commuting and got all my exercise by running. First of all it looks good, although the colour will show up the dirt easily. It’s solidly built and surprisingly light. The shifters are extremely smooth and the acceleration is impressive (and a little scary for a new rider). Crosswinds found me braking at first because of a feeling of skitter at high speeds, but I soon learned to trust the bike to hold the road. My first ride was 30 miles to get used to the bike and shake out any tuning issues, but fortunately I didn’t find any, no doubt thanks to Evans’ excellent setup before I picked it up. I inadvertently chose the hilliest route possible, and was surprised at how easy it was to climb. My only complaint is that the saddle is a bit uncomfortable and takes getting used to.

I have just got back into cycling after years away from the sport. I was looking for a reliable and fast bike that would be hardy enough to use for the commute to work, but also allow me to use it for competitive riding. After lots of research, test rides and chats with staff at Evans, I chose the Trek 1.5 Compact.

I've had the bike for about two months now, used it almost every day, and cannot fault it in any way, it's fast, responsive, the gear change is smooth and has so far stood upto the daily commute through the potholes of London without any problems at all.

I would recommend that anyone looking for a road bike in this price range gives the Trek 1.5 Compact serious concideration, and at the very least a test ride!

Never had a road bike before,was getting around on a hybrid.I must say I am very pleased with my purchase.The bike is very light and responsive.I must thank Roger who was very knowledgable and helpful in helping me to choose the bike.I was I never i never noticed that one of the transfers on the crossbar had a tear in it.to late to take it back.

I bought this bike on the ride to work scheme and clock up 28 miles a day for my commute, I have found that it is very comfortable for that kind of distance and nice a light for the hills I ride.
Colour was a consideration, as I wasn't too sure on a bright white bike, but other than it getting dirty quickly, (which was to be expected!!!) it does mean in the horrible wet conditions we have in England, I am always visible to road users.
Only down side I would say is that the tyres don't have much of a resistance to punctures, I've had two since I got the bike and it has been down to glass finding its way through the tyre. they do have good grip in the wet though, which is nice :)

Overall, i think it works out good value for money and my biggest test with be my 350 Midlands - Snowdon ride later in the year...I'll update as necessary!
