Yes, I recommend this product.

Pros: Good value, Good quality, Lightweight, Looks great

I couldnt recommend this bike highly enough. I ride tracks, trails and canals so didnt require anything ultra aggresive but something substantial enough to take a bit of abuse.

The 4300d achieves this perfectly. Ive put on around 300miles in 3 weeks and have no issues to speak off.

Probably my favourite feature (which was new to me upgrading from a Trek 3900) is the suspension lock out - this makes the cycle extra versatile for riding on smoother roads and helps to easily pick up momentum.

The brakes seem good enough (I was hesitant to move from v-brakes to what I guess can be described as entry level single piston disk brakes) but they work great (just avoid getting any lubricant on them).

Travel in the suspension forks is more than enough for the terrains I cycle and has appropriate resistance / movement to give a comfortable ride.

You'll get the typical new bike issues around brake and gear cables stretching but thats to be expected - check up in a few weeks should solve that (or its not too difficult to tighten the odd cable yourself).

No, I do not recommend this product.

Pros: Comfortable, Looks great

Cons: Poor quality

I find the bike just right ergonomically (5ft11 on 19inch frame) but have had some problems.
(1) The "Spinner" fork jammed up on me after about 50 miles, after some convincing, Evans sent the forks back to Trek, and Trek sent a replacement. However, after about 60 miles these have started too become too stiff. Evans helpfully suggested I upgrade the forks (at my expense) as they were not very good and quite cheaply made.
(2) Squealing brakes - this could be a set up problem and they seem to have worn in a bit now.
(3) Paintwork - after just 50 miles the brake cable had bumped the paintwork enough to get down to bare metal in one spot and there were similar damage to paint where cables can bump the frame. I have put some plastic frame protectors on these spots now and would advise any prospective purchasers to get Evans to do that in advance. The paintwork scratches more easily than on my other bikes (one of which is much cheaper).
Perhaps I was unlucky with my particular bike and others are fine - but this is my experience.

Great Value for Money for Taller Riders

Unlike most off-road bikes this one comes in a wide range of frame sizes and still at a reasonable price. I'm 6'4" and it's a comfortable ride on and off road.

There are lighter bikes, but none that I could find with an XXL frame size.

I have found the Trek 4300 2010 disc a brilliant buy . I am 5'8" and the wrong side of 17 stone (Main reason for buying a new bike anyway) and I have no complaints about the dimensions of the frame size I brought (18") .
I wasn't going to buy this bike because of it having mechanical disc brakes , I decided to go for it because the next bike that had hydraulic brakes did not get such a good write up and was the best part of £100 dearer . I need not of worried about stopping though as once bedded in I can stop with full confidence .
I wish that the lime colour that Trek do was available as a choice through Evans but having said that I cannot complain about the quality of the paintwork or decal finish .
Only Downsides I have found is that it feels slightly heavy and the deraulier seemed to need a fair bit of fine tuning to get it running smoothly .
All in all i have found this bike to be very comfortable and it feels extremely tough over the rough stuff .
