The Trek District 2010 Single Speed Hybrid Bike is Trek's first production belt-drive single speed which features an aggressive riding geometry and an edgy appearance. The belt drive is a carbon fibre composite belt reinforced to prevent stretch. The worry-free, lube-rejecting, lighter-than-any-chain-you've-ever-owned belt also produces a ninja-quiet ride. Don't be mistaken, this is not a retro-styled single speed. The District is completely progressive.

Very happy with my Trek District! Such a smooth and effortless ride, hassle free and silent. I'm convinced its faster than my £1,000 + racer i had! Really light too.

I opted for the Green colour - for me this is by far the best colour combination and everybody comments on how pretty the bike is!

After recently getting 'back into' cycling, I was intent at buying a single speed after reading people on forums highly recommending them and suggesting you'll never want a geared bike again, given the price I took a leap of faith and do not regret it at all.

Quiet ride, low maintenance, no oiling etc, 3 months on had no problems at all. Managed 36.8 mph downhill, and the gearing (for me) is perfect for commuting, It hasn't stopped me attacking hills which would have killed me on my old battered mountain bike on longer rides, it just requires a slightly different approach.

I thought comments on forums and reviews about people stopping and staring were a bit exaggerated, but this will happen practically every time you ride it. I won't be selling this on.

Wanna get noticed? Wanna speed along as fast as any geared racer on your commute? Wanna talk to chicks? Then get a Trek District boys - seriously. This isn't a soft toy bike - appearances notwithstanding. This is a proper tool - a tight, edgy ride that will get you to the front of all traffic light queues. Flip the stem so its facing slightly downwards, and you'll feel like you're on a genuine track racer - very aggressive, unforgiving almost (but not quite) and very, very fast. I commute from Surrey up through South London ghetto blasting territory to Vauxhall in 50 minutes one-way, four times a week. Boy is it fun! And it'll take some rough stuff too - I'm regularly seen zooming along the Thames towpath without anything falling off or breaking loose. Keep it clean though - no bike looks good when its grimy - and do NOT change the wheels, like the one I saw chained up on the South Bank recently with some basic hoops - urgghh!!

Great fun!
Purchased this after my £1000 plus racer bike was stolen.
Extremely happy so far, the riding position is perfect for me and it seems so much faster than my last bike.
The gearing feels great with no problem up hills. This is my 1st single speed and absolutely love the simplicity and cleaness (no more grease on legs) thanks to smooth carbon chain. When not pedaling it just rolls and rolls nice and smooth.
