Brighton Sportive Ride:
Sunday 5th August 2012
We're looking forward to a double-day trip of delight by the sea and we hope you are too! Join us in Ditchling, just outside of Brighton, and enjoy the South Downs and all they have to offer!
Leaving the grounds of Plumpton College today's routes meander through the local lanes of the South Downs foothills and whilst you are still fresh, the long, challenging Ditchling Beacon climb and up 814ft to the third highest point on the Downs. With 360 degree views of rolling countryside and the coast the climb is well worth the effort. Heading east into a natural dip in the Downs the rest of the route is pretty flat with the exception of the Long route. This strikes out for the Coast again though the pretty town of Alfriston, where you cycle above an unseen white chalk horse. Heading back from the coast, this can be glimpsed on your left.
