Hire a Garmin

At all our events, riders are able to hire a Garmin 200, 500 or 800 GPS unit to test out, completely free of charge thanks to our fantastic sponsors.

The unit will come ready loaded with the route of the day, so you can experience the technology at its very best over your ride.
To borrow a unit, simply email rideit@evanscycles.com, with the attached spreadsheet, and the computer will be ready and waiting for you when you sign up*.

Units Available

All Garmin GPS computers will provide you with the stats for your ride whilst you’re on the go, including your average speed, current speed, distance travelled, elevation, calories burned and how long you’ve been riding for, then they have their own special features:

This little unit gives you all the basic stats you might want, tracking time, distance, speed, location and calories burned. AutoPause means that the timer will stop as you do, if you set it up to do so, and you can set alerts for distance, time or calories if you’re heading for a goal.
With all the features of the 200, this model also allows you to track heart rate (you need to a bring a monitor) and cadence if you have a sensor. These features both work with any ANT+ enabled gear so you can provide your own. The main advantage is the ability to upload courses so you can view your route as you ride, making sure you know where the next RideIt! arrow will be pointing you.
This top of the range piece of kit does all of the above, and has a sleek touchscreen operation system and clear 2.6inch screen. Ordinance Survey maps give a detailed view of the terrain ahead and this unit will also record the temperature so you can show off what a lovely, sunny journey you had, or prove you toughed it through the elements if mother nature shines less favorably.

Once you've completed your ride, we can upload your information to Garmin Connect where you can view your stats displayed online. The features available will vary, but you’ll be able to see your journey on a map and speed, distance and elevation displayed, as well as heart rate if you took a 500 or 800 and used a monitor.

*Unit numbers are limited. If we are unable to provide a Garmin, you will be informed before the event. Sign up early to avoid disappointment.
