How does it work

Ride It! is all about taking the hassle out of riding your bike that's why we've made it as straight forward as possible to get involved. There are two ways of entering the rides. Online pre-entry, or on the day entry:

ONLINE PRE-ENTRY

  1. Visit the Entry & prices section of our site and follow the links to Online entry.
  2. Complete the online entry process (registering for multiple events if you wish).
  3. Print out the confirmation email and bring this with you to the ride.
  4. Arrive at the ride venue from 8:00am and go to the Pre registered collection point, collect your rider card and FREE Memory Map OS map.
  5. The first start time is 8.30 and then every 5 minutes thereafter, just go to the start point when you’re ready. Fun, Short and Medium riders start between 8.30am andl 10.30am. Long riders start between 8.30am and 9.45am.
  6. The last start is at 10.30 prompt. The course is removed at 10.45am after the last rider, so turning up late will mean there is no route to follow.

ON THE DAY ENTRY

  1. Arrive at the ride venue from 8:00am and complete an on the day entry form (also available as a download from the Entry & prices section of this site).
  2. Hand the entry form and entry fee at the On the day entries point, collect your rider card and FREE Memory Map OS map.
  3. The first start time is 8.30 and then every 5 minutes thereafter, just go to the start point when you’re ready. Fun, Short and Medium riders start between 8.30am andl 10.30am. Long riders start between 8.30am and 9.45am.
  4. The last start is at 10.30 prompt. The course is removed at 10.45am after the last rider, so turning up late will mean there is no route to follow.

ON THE ROAD OR TRAIL

Once you set off from the event centre the route will be marked with the use of arrow signs and marker ribbons. Arrow signs will be at all junctions on the route.

So quite simply you follow these signs and as you come to a junction, if the ribbon is on the left, you turn left and on the right, you turn right.

At certain points on the ride the routes will divide (into the various, fun, short, medium and long routes) these route divide points will be signposted - simply follow the signs for the particular route you are riding.

Although the routes are marked we recommend that you keep an eye on your Memory Map OS map, as it's not unheard of for riders to miss turns or for members of the public to remove or turn signs around. At least if you know approximately where you are it will be easier to find your way back onto the route.

RIDE FINISH

Once you have followed the route back to the event centre make your way to the FINISH line where your finish time will be noted and you will be recorded as completing the ride safely.

It's important to check in with Ride It! staff once you finish the ride, failure to report back may result in you being presumed lost and emergency services being called.
