To celebrate the many benefits of cycling (and to coincide with National Poetry Day, 4th October), Evans Cycles have teamed up with Sir Chris Hoy, HOY Bikes, Piccadilly Press and British Cycling’s HSBC UK Go-Ride youth cycling programme to offer a unique prize for a unique competition. The school that sends us the best cycling-themed poem will enjoy a fascinating day in the company of six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris, along with a fun cycle skills session from Go-Ride and a set of Flying Fergus books for their school library. Three runners-up will also win a Go-Ride session as well as a set of Flying Fergus books each.
To help children with their task, we have created an activity booklet (see ‘Bike to School Poetry Competition – Resource Pack’ download below) that features a range of bike-inspired educational challenges. The booklet's different tasks prepare children for the final exercise: to write a poem about cycling
We are asking schools to send in their best poem, which we will then judge (see ‘Bike to School Poetry Competition – Information Pack for Schools’ download below)
