Looking ahead to RIDE IT 2019

With a successful 10th year firmly under the belt in 2018 we were never going to just sit back and relax. We take a brief look at some of the highlights from our upcoming RIDE IT 2019 event calendar.

Gatwick Head Office Showroom Ride Out

To kick off the year we’re working with our colleagues at head office and in our Gatwick Showroom store to invite you to join us for a ride. It’s completely free to enter but a bit different from our usual RIDE IT events. Rather than a waymarked route we’ll publish the routes as GPS files for riders to follow and also have some of the RIDE IT team and Evans Cycles staff there to ride with you if you want to join a group for some company on the ride.

The planned route is approximately 75 km long but there will also be the option to take a shortcut back cutting the distance down to under 50km.

A new West Sussex Sportive

2019 will see us host combination of early season road and cyclocross rides from the South of England Showground near Ardingly in West Sussex. These are local roads and trails for a lot of the Evans Cycles team so we’ve made good us of our local knowledge to come up with some varied routes designed to encourage you back on the bike during the winter months.

A new South Downs road sportive

In 2018 we had planned to host a ride from Havant that took in some of the great riding that the South Downs had to offer. Unfortunately, some unusually snowy conditions put paid to our plans for 2018 but we’ve not been put off and will be back to host a ride from there in 2019.

You can expect a challenging early season ride that includes Old Winchester Hill and Harting Hill offering an ideal chance to test your fitness as we head towards spring.

A new endurance route option in the Brecon Beacons

2019 sees some changes to our RIDE IT South Wales MTB Ride that takes place in the Brecon Beacons. It was already a challenging ride but we wanted to give riders a chance to explore more of the amazing natural off-road riding in the area and to do that we’ve introduced a new 50 mile endurance route option. The highlight of the new route is the inclusion of the Brecon Beacons Gap Road with some stunning view as you ride down towards Talybont.

For those that don’t want to ride the full distance we will still have two shorter route options on offer too.

Training Rides for Prudential Ride London

In 2019 we’ll be hosting a mini series of training rides to help participants get ready for the Prudential Ride London. We start gradually with two 30 mile rides on offer during March, increasing the distance to 40 miles in April then culminating in a 50 mile sportive in May from our head office that will give you a chance to have a recce of Leith Hill (the toughest hill on the Prudential Ride London course).

More details to follow in early 2019 or you can already enter the May Sportive on our website.

A new 100 mile route for Milton Keynes

Our Milton Keynes Sportive joins our Challenge Series for 2019 with two new route options including a chance to back a 100 mile century ride. The rolling terrain around Milton Keynes is ideal for our first century ride of the year but don’t be fooled, it’s not completely flat with the inclusion of Aldbury Hill and it’s gradient of just over 10% in places will give you a chance to test your climbing legs as well as your endurance to go the distance.

As well the 100 mile route there will be 100km route option and a shorter 60km route option to choose from as well.

Leeds 100 mile route option on some of the same roads as the World Champs

2019 sees our traditional RIDE IT Leeds Sportive become the Leeds 100 with two new route options. There’s both 100km and 100 mile routes that will give you the chance to ride some of the same roads that will feature later in the year when Yorkshire hosts the UCI World Championships.
