Designed and tested in British Columbia by a bike brand with more than 50 years in the business, the Norco Sight A2 29er has all the heritage needed for success. Add in fantastic spec, cutting-edge frame design, size-specific geometry, big-rolling 29in wheels, and a great deal in the Evans Cycles’ sale, and this is one All-Mountain machine built to put smiles on riders’ faces.
Norco is a company that is passionate about mountain bikes, run by mountain bikers who really love what they do. This enthusiasm means that when Norco created the Sight A2 29er, the team genuinely had only one goal in mind: to create an All-Mountain bike that would spread the message that mountain biking is — first and foremost — fun. The big wheels keep the Sight A2 29er stable, the frame characteristics makes it exciting, and the spec makes everything function stress-free. What’s not to smile about?
However, more than just fun, for riders who want to take their off-road experiences to the next level, Norco’s Sight A2 29er is also the perfect choice. Yes, it is designed to provide unadulterated enjoyment, but this is no simple toy. By combining geometry that has been honed by years of experience and countless sessions among the trails of western Canada, with a truly impressive practical build, the Sight A2 29er is a machine designed to perform.
Ready for anything
At the heart of the Sight’s ability is its refined aluminium frame with pinpoint geometry and highly tuned A.R.T. suspension design. It’s no exaggeration to say that the Sight has a set-up that feels like a custom build right out of the box, managing to produce a well-balanced climbing and descending capability with grin-inducing playfulness and nimble handling. In many ways, Norco has created the ultimate in aggressive All-Mountain geometry, resulting in both a confidence-inspiring yet spirited ride.
Thanks to Norco’s ‘Gravity Tune’ design philosophy, chainstay length increases proportionately to the front centre length on each size of bike, resulting in all riders being able to find the ideal body position and weight distribution. Meanwhile, the progressive suspension set-up features improved small bump compliance thanks to the trunnion-mounted 130mm Fox Performance Float rear shock and RockShox Pike RC 140mm fork. Throughout the Sight range, suspension kinematics have been specifically optimised for All-Mountain riding. That means you get both efficient climbing and lively descending without compromise.
Spec to the max
So this is a high-performance machine, from a highly respected brand. To be available at a mid-range price point, there must be some budgetary cuts made on spec, right? Don’t be so sure. The Shimano XT Shadow Plus rear mech makes every gear change sweet and assured; the Shimano Deore hydraulic discs provide power and highly controllable modulation; the Race Face Aeffect chainset and WTB rims spin smoothly. Add in SDG grips and saddle, and a TranzX dropper post, and you have a complete package that is truly quality in depth.
We especially love the big-rolling nature of the Sight A2 29er, and we’re not alone in that. Bike Radar gave this particular model 4.5 stars in its recent review, saying: “Hailing from British Columbia in Canada, it’s no surprise that the Norco Sight is one of the more confidence-inspiring trail bikes on the market.”
But don’t think the Sight range is a 29er one-trick pony. If you want to get your kicks in slightly different ways, all that ability is also available in a smaller-wheeled Sight A2 650B. Or there’s a pair of slightly more budget-orientated Norco Sight A3s. Or there’s a pair of exotic carbon-framed Sight C2s. And women riders can find a Sight model tuned specifically to their riding needs with the Norco Sight A2 Women.
So whatever type of mountain biker you are, wherever you want to ride, there’s a Norco Sight just waiting to put a smile on your face.
