To celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Cycle to Work scheme, we’re delighted to introduce ‘Heartwork’, an experimental track created by Paul Hartnoll of Orbital based entirely on the heartbeats of Britain’s cycling commuters. Paul Hartnoll has used the data from over 20,000 rides to work to create a fast-paced track to raise awareness around heart disease and to get UK commuters to shun their cars, buses or tubes and ride their way to a healthier heart.
Heart disease kills more than 150,000 people in the UK each year but research has shown that cycling to work can cut the risk of heart disease by a staggering 46 per cent. Supported by the British Heart Foundation we’re pledging to make Britain healthier by getting 250,000 more people cycling to work by 2028.
You can download the track for free using the download button in the Soundcloud player below but if you’d like to support the British Heart Foundation in their fight to end heart disease, you can donate via the British Heart Foundation donate link.
