Have you enjoyed cycling over the summer? Were you inspired to start pedalling by family rides, sunny skies or even after 3 British Grand Tour wins? Just because the temperature is turning and the days are starting to get shorter, there’s no reason to stop — autumn cycling can be hugely rewarding and invigorating. At Evans Cycles we firmly believe in the old adage: there’s no such as thing as the wrong weather, only the wrong kit. So let us help you get equipped with everything you need to Ride On this autumn.
After a glorious summer, watching the rain come down may be a little disheartening. But it should never stop you riding your bike. When the weather turns wet, all cyclists can enjoy the benefits of waterproof jackets, full-finger gloves and even water-repellent bottoms and overtrousers. And don’t forget that cycling eyewear isn’t just for posing on sunny days — it’s great for keeping spray out of your eyes, too. Then, depending on your chosen cycling discipline, we have specific wet-weather kit, such as mudguards for winter training and commuting bikes, or waterproof overshoes for road riders.
For cycle commuters and riders who spend most of their time on the road, visibility is key. We stock a huge array of brightly coloured, highly visible and reflective clothing, including contemporary kit that looks subtly ‘normal’ off the bike in daylight but highly effective — and reflective — when it counts. Then you can accessorise your night-time look with reflective gloves, helmets, belts, trouser clips… Of course, we have a massive selection of lights to help you see the way ahead, too. And we haven’t forgotten about mountain bikers — shop our selection of high-powered and helmet-mountable lights, perfect for off-roading.
Autumn doesn’t necessarily mean freezing conditions but it’s best to be prepared for anything. At Evans Cycles we believe that layering is the key to maintaining a perfect temperature on the bike in any weather. That’s why we stock everything from base layers, to jerseys, to core-insulating gilets and softshells, right up to high-performance windproof jackets. Factor in specialist merino wool products and dedicated heat-retaining garments such as arm, leg and neck warmers, gloves, overshoes or even winter boots, and we’ve got everything you need to stay warm.
