The new Shimano XTR M980 10 Speed Rear Derailleur sees a re-engineered architecture that provides a smooth, linear feel at the shifter and is remarkably stable despite suspension movement, trail chatter or inevitable cable contamination.
For 2011 Shimano has split the XTR range into two very distinct but still complementary ranges labelled 'Trail' and 'Race'. The best part though is that the XTR trail is the yin to the XTR Race's yang, and together mountain biking's first family of components offers a broad matrix of fully interchangeable options to tube your ride. The Dyna-Sys system is a brand new way of creating mountain bike gears which evolved around the needs of real life riders and not just the need for more gears. The Dyna-Sys offers an additional ring on the cassette which allows for a much better gear ratio and emphasises the use of middle chainring on climbs, giving increased climbing efficiency and an improved power transfer created by the slacker chain tension.
